Heritage Surveying Ltd. is committed to the objectives of sustainable development and to achieving environmental best practice throughout all business activities, wherever it is practical to do so. We recognise that, in meeting the needs and environmental concerns of our clients and other stakeholders, we have a part to play in delivering sustainable solutions.

By implementing best practice office management , we will reduce our demand on natural resources wherever possible. We will also promote and follow a policy of recycling and reduced energy consumption. In particular, we will reduce our overall paper consumption.

Through environmental assessments and plans, we will ensure, when required, that environmental criteria are taken into account in operational requirements and projects, in an effort to minimise pollution, harm to the environment and to maximise the potential for sustainable development.

We will encourage our clients to consider the environmental impact of their activities, and advise them on compliance with statutory requirements and best practice, by sharing our information and environmental experience with them.

The aim of this policy is to ensure that no job applicant or employee receives less favourable treatment on the grounds of race, colour, nationality, ethnic or natural origin or physical disability or is disadvantaged by conditions or requirements which cannot be shown to be justifiable. Our selection criteria are regularly reviewed to ensure that individuals are selected, promoted and treated on the basis of their merits and abilities. Implementation

Gary Barlow, Director, will act as the Equal Opportunities Officer with responsibility for the implementation of the policy as follows:-

To ensure that all employees and prospective employees receive a copy of our Equal Opportunities Policy Statement.

To regularly assess the policy and discuss with all employees the implementation and improvement of the policy.

To monitor the composition of the work force and job applications on a regular basis in order to evaluate the progress of the policy.

To ensure that the Partnership’s recruitment and selection methods are fair.

To monitor advertisements in order to ensure that applicants are aware that the Partnership is an Equal Opportunities employer.

To ensure that the selection procedure does not include any criteria that is biased against minority groups.

To ensure that all disciplinary and grievance hearings are conducted so as not to discriminate against any person.

To examine the existing procedures and take action where they are found to be ineffective.

The policy will be kept up to date, particularly as the business changes in nature and size. To ensure this, the policy and the way in which it is operated will be reviewed every year.

Complaints Procedure

If you have a complaint, then this note sets out the procedure which we will follow in dealing with that complaint.

1. The following people have been appointed to deal with complaints and you should not hesitate to contact the relevant person. Details are as follows: Gary Barlow - Director, Heritage Surveying Ltd., 38 Chilham Close, Pitsea, Essex SS13 2NL

2. Where your complaint is initially made orally, you will be requested to send a written summary of your complaint to the person dealing with it.

3. Once we have received your written summary of the complaint, we will contact you in writing within fourteen working days to inform you of our understanding of the circumstances leading to your complaint. You will be invited to make any comments that you have in relation to this.

4. Within twenty one days of receipt of your written summary, the person dealing with your complaint will write to you, in order to inform you of the outcome of the investigation into your complaint and to let you know what actions have been or will be taken.

5. If you remain dissatisfied with any aspect of our handling of your complaint, then we will attempt to resolve this promptly through negotiations, and otherwise agree to enter into mediation with you in accordance with the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) Model Mediation Procedure or the mediation process operated by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors.

6. If the complaint has still not been resolved to your satisfaction, we agree to the referral of your complaint to the Surveyors and Valuers Arbitration Scheme operated by the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, 12 Bloomsbury Square, London WC1A 2LP from whom details of the scheme may be obtained.
